If you're looking for how to extend or purchase your Maintenance Agreement, please see further down below.
Upgrading Your Edition
If you have already purchased a license key for MyBill Calculator and you would like to upgrade it to a Commercial or an Industrial
Edition, you've come to the right place! You can upgrade your current license, and it will only cost the difference in price between editions.
How to upgrade
Upgrading is very easy. You can upgrade online and pay with your favourite payment method (bank card, credit card, cheque or wire transfer).
To purchase an upgrade, follow the instructions below:
Maintenance agreement coverage fee
An upgrade does not affect your maintenance agreement. (Note: First-time purchase automatically include a 1-year
complimentary maintenance agreement). When you place an order for an edition upgrade you may get a "Coverage fee for existing maintenance
agreement" included in your order. Since the price of a maintenance agreement varies according to the edition, a small fee is automatically
included in the order, based on the difference in price between the different maintenance agreements, and on the number of
remaining days of maintenance coverage.
For more information about how this is calculated click here.
Assume, for example, that you are upgrading a Residential Edition to a Commercial Edition. Your product
is covered by a maintenance agreement which expires, say, on 31 Dec 2010. Let's assume that today is 1 Dec 2010. So you still have 31 days
of maintenance agreement coverage.
The price of 1-year maintenance agreement for Residential Edition is €4.99.
The price of 1-year maintenance agreement for Commercial Edition is €9.99.
The difference in price for 1-year is hence €9.99 - €4.99 = €5.
Since you only have 31 days of coverage, pro-rata the price would be €5 x 31 / 365 = 42c.
Note: Prices quoted exclude VAT.
Reactivating your product
When you place an order for an upgrade, you will receive the same license key you already have by e-mail. This is because you will be
using your original license key to reactivate your product. You MUST reactivate your product to finish the upgrade process, since this is
the only way the product would "know" that the license has been upgraded.
To reactive your product:
- Start the program by clicking the shortcut "MyBill Calculator" on your desktop or Start menu;
- Since you would have, most probably, activated the product in the past, the "Activation" screen will be hidden:
- Click on the "About" tab;
- Click on "Reactivate Product" - this will take you to the Activation screen;
- Click "Activate" button.
- If this is the first time you are activating (not likely), then you can just visit the Activation screen, enter your license key and click the "Activate" button.
Extending your Maintenance Agreement
When you purchase a license for MyBill Calculator, you can use the software indefinitely, and the software
never expires. You will also be entitled to minor version upgrades of the software (e.g. from version 3.0 to version 3.1). These
will include bug fixes and other minor updates.
When the utility bills are revised by the government however, a new major version of MyBill Calculator is
released. New major versions of the software beyond the first year are free if your license key is covered by a Maintenance Agreement.
During the first year, starting from the day
on which you activate your license key, you can download and install new versions of the software free of charge and using the
same license key. Beyond the first year, however, you will need Maintenance Agreement coverage. This avoids you
having to purchase a new license for the software. The price of a Maintenance Agreement is typically half the price of a new purchase,
and covers your license for an additional year of new versions.
Viewing the expiry date of your current Maintenance Agreement
You can see the expiry date of your current Maintenance Agreement from MyBill Calculator.
Start the program and click "About". The information is shown under "Licensing Information".
How to purchase Maintenance Agreement coverage
Extending your Maintenance Agreement is very easy. You can upgrade online and pay with your favourite payment method
(bank card, credit card, cheque or wire transfer). The price of the Maintenance Agreement depends on your Edition
of the software (Residential, Commercial or Industrial). To purchase an upgrade, follow the instructions below:
Note about time window: If your Maintenance Agreement has already expired, you have a 60 day time window during
which you may purchase your additional Maintenance Agreement coverage. After 60 days, it will not be possible
to extend your Maintenance Agreement. Should you wish to use latest versions of the software then, you will be
required to purchase a new license key.
Note about expiry date: Additional years of Maintenance Agreement coverage always
start counting from the day of expiration, never from the day on which they are purchased. So if your
agreement expires, say, 1 June 2010, then purchasing an additional year of coverage will extend the
expiry date to 1 June 2011, irrespective of when the purchase is made.
Reactivating your product
When you extend your Maintenance Agreement period, you will be required to re-activate your software once again,
using your original license key. This allows the program to download the latest licensing information.
To reactive your product:
- Start the program by clicking the shortcut "MyBill Calculator" on your desktop or Start menu;
- Since you would have, most probably, activated the product in the past, the "Activation" screen will be hidden:
- Click on the "About" tab;
- Click on "Reactivate Product" - this will take you to the Activation screen;
- Click "Activate" button.
